Interviews will be conducted August 17-19, 2012. The time frame of August 18, 2012 is from 8 AM to 6 PM, and that of August 19, 2012 is from 8 AM to 4 PM. If you are invited for an interview, you will be contacted by August 5, 2012 and assigned a 30-minute interview slot by the coordinator. You must be available for your assigned time slot. Therefore, be available both days within the time frames, but you will only be interviewed once during these 2 days. You will not be able to change your interview time slot.
NOTE: We do NOT grant phone, Skype, video chat, Facetime, or any other form of interviews besides in person interviews.
Interview Process
A large number of candidates will be selected for an interview. The interview will be about 30 minutes long and located at University of California Davis School of Medicine in Sacramento, CA. Each interview committee will of 3 people, where it can be compromised of program alum, program director, assistant program director, associate program director, program fellows, and program coordinators. Not only they will be conducting your interview, but they will be advocating for you as a candidate during the selection process.
You are expected to arrive in professional business attire. The interview enables the committee to get to know you. Make sure you review what you submitted in your application. We will ask you a few questions and you can ask us a few as well. We will ask question about current topics that can be see on major newspapers. During the interview, there are no right or wrong answers. We ask general questions about you, your goals, accomplishments, and your interests for the future. We will also ask some situational questions.
The best thing that you can do is to know yourself and be relaxed. This is also good practice because if you want to become a doctor then you will be going to many interviews throughout your career, from medical school to residency and beyond, so we feel that this is a good practice for your future success
A large number of candidates will be selected for an interview. The interview questions change at every cycle, and chosen the day before the interview, and rotating, so there is not way to find what questions will be asked.
